GRAPE CREEK, TX — The No. 7 Wall Hawks took down Grape Creek on Tuesday for another impressive district win, 15-0, after five innings.
Wall took the lead early, scoring three in the top of the 1st inning. The offensive success continued with the Hawks scoring six in the 2nd, five in the 3rd and a final run in the top of the 5th inning.
Grape Creek struggled to kick-start their offense all afternoon. However, the Eagles did manage to get on base on two hits during the contest. Zane Durham and Braley Woods hit the ball but failed to score against a stout Hawks' defense.
Kellan Oliver delivered a gem on the mound, pitching five innings and only allowing two hits all day. He also finished with zero walks and an impressive nine strikeouts.
Olliver also led the way for the Hawks on offense. He and Hagyn Barbee finished their afternoons 2-3 at the plate, with each batting in a single RBI. Lawson Dankworth and Jack Jeys each collected two RBIs in the contest, with Kyler Oneal, Kalan Sanders, Tyler Klinesmith and Reid Ballard finishing with one RBI each.
Jeys hit the only home run in the contest.
Next up, the Hawks host an important matchup against Merkel in Wall on Friday.
The Eagles return to action at home against Jim Ned on Friday.
