RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State senior thrower Marie Schuler has been named the Lone Star Conference Field Athlete of the Week following a record-breaking performance at the ASU Invite, the conference announced.
Schuler, a native of Langenfeld, Germany, set the LSC record in the hammer throw with a mark of 201 feet, 7 inches (61.44 meters). The throw broke her own conference record set at last year’s championship meet.
The business major currently ranks fourth in NCAA Division II in the event this season.
Schuler becomes the first female Angelo State athlete to earn a weekly conference honor this outdoor season and the sixth overall from the Rams and Rambelles to receive recognition.
The Lone Star Conference Championships are scheduled for May 7-9 in Canyon.
