SAN ANGELO, TX — The iconic Budweiser Clydesdales will trot into San Angelo next month for a four-day visit.
The eight-horse hitch and classic red beer wagon are scheduled to arrive April 7-11, with events across the city. Fans can view the team at Fort Concho on April 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Angelo State University's Foster Field on April 10 during the same hours, and at the 7-11 Stripes store on North Chadbourne Street on April 11. An additional appearance at Goodfellow Air Force Base on April 9 will be limited to service members and their families.
The San Angelo stop is part of the Clydesdales' national tour, managed from Anheuser-Busch's historic brewery in St. Louis. Each team, consisting of eight horses, a wagon, and drivers, makes hundreds of stops annually across the U.S.
The Clydesdales, originally brought to the U.S. in the 1800s as draft horses, became a Budweiser symbol in 1933 when August A. Busch Sr. received a hitch to celebrate the repeal of Prohibition. Since then, the horses have become fixtures at parades, sporting events, and even two presidential inaugurations.
For those unable to attend in San Angelo, the Clydesdales are on year-round display at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery and Grant's Farm in St. Louis, as well as at the Warm Springs Ranch breeding farm in Boonville, Missouri. More information is available at BudweiserTours.com.
