TPWD Stocks Downtown Concho River With Channel Catfish

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Inland Fisheries Division had its first channel catfish stocking of the season Friday in the Concho River in downtown San Angelo.

The fish were released into the Oakes Street Lake at 396 S. Irving St.

The catfish stockings will continue every two weeks through the end of October — with the exception of August.

The stockings are part of the TPWD's Neighborhood Fishin’ program, which aims to provide local communities with regular fishing opportunities close to home.

Anglers can keep up to five fish of any kind (all species combined) per day with one black bass 14 inches or greater in length. Youth under 17 do not need a fishing license, but adults who fish at these sites do. For as little as $11, folks can purchase a "one-day, all-water" license or they can buy an "annual, freshwater" license for $30, allowing you to fish at any time during the year. All proceeds go toward the management of the fisheries, providing access and conservation of Texas fish and their habitats.
