Central High School Student Struck by Vehicle Near Campus

SAN ANGELO, TX — A Central High School student was hit by a vehicle as she was crossing Pecos Street on Monday.

According to a traffic officer with the San Angelo Police Department, the student was on a crosswalk between the high school and Civic League Park when a driver in a Chevy Suburban turning left from Cottonwood Street failed to see the student.

The driver was reportedly able to swerve at the last second and avoid significant contact with the student, though she was still knocked back a couple steps.

The officer stated there were no major injuries for the student or driver. The student was checked out by first responders on scene and left with a parent.

The driver was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
