Mason Sweeps All Five Titles at Regional Tennis Meet

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — The tennis capital of Texas added to its legacy Tuesday as Mason won all five divisions at the Region IV-2A Meet.

Mason’s Russell Wilson claimed the gold medal in boys singles, while Georgia Hicks won in girls singles.

Mason was especially dominant in doubles by taking first and second in each division.

Keegan Ratliff and Cooper Ratliff defeated teammates Cade Dudney and Kelton Jordan to win the boys doubles title.

Taylor Bierschwale and Kinley Wenzel beat teammates Chloe Swan and Sophie Ashlschwede to win in girls doubles.

Finally, Corbin Martinez and Heidi Smith won the mixed doubles title over teammates Jaxson Holbrook and Camille Schmidt.

All total, Mason will be sending 14 athletes to the UIL Tennis State Meet on May 7-8 in San Antonio.

Mason is home to a record 117 state titles in tennis. The school won all three doubles titles last year at state, while coming up just short with silver medals in the singles divisions.
