HOUSTON, TX — After an incredible 10-year run, which included two World Series titles, the Houston Astros are suddenly one of the worst teams in the league.
They've dropped 12 of their last 14 games and have a record of 8-15. Only the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets have fewer wins this year.
We hate to say it, but it may be time for the Astros to rediscover their old magic by hiring Bill Belichick to help them cheat their way back to the top.
In case you haven’t heard, the Astros used a video room to help decipher pitching signals from opposing teams in 2017 and ‘18, then banged on a trash can to relay those signals to the batter.
It was some next-level cheating that even the former New England Patriots coach would have been proud of.
Regardless of the cheating scandal, the last 10 years were a golden age for the Astros, and their fans have had no choice but to double down on the scandal and wear it as a badge of honor. If you’re not cheating, you’re not eating.
Belichick could be the perfect man to lead the Astros’ cheating renaissance. Sure, he’s a football coach, but he helped the Patriots skirt the rules for years, and they enjoyed one Super Bowl after another.
He may be the only person that can save the Astros now.
We propose the Astros hire Belichick as the Director of Cheating Operations to try and turn things around. Astros fans are already used to being the villains, so they should just embrace this move.
Everyone needs a bad guy to hate, and combining the Astros and Belichick could create a superteam for the rest of the league to root against.
Things aren't going great for Belichick at the University of North Carolina anyway. This could be what everyone needs.
Until it happens, it could be a long season for the Astros while they follow the rules and keep losing.
