SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Central junior Ethan Boyd will have no shortage of colleges to choose from when he makes his decision where to continue his football career.
Boyd, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive lineman, received his sixth NCAA Division I college offer Friday, this one from the University of North Texas.
Boyd has also received offers from Oklahoma State, UTEP, Georgia State, Florida Atlantic and UTSA.
North Texas is coming off a historic season as the Mean Green won 12 games for the first time in program history. They defeated San Diego State 49-47 in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl to win their first bowl game since 2013 and finish the season ranked No. 25 in the nation.
Boyd has received significant college interest this year following an impressive junior season last fall when he earned first-team All-District 2-6A honors.
He helped the Bobcats’ offense average 35 points per game during the regular season. They finished with an 8-4 record and won their first playoff game since 2020.
Boyd was described as a “bully blocker” by Bobcats head coach Mark Smith. He has started every game for Central since his sophomore year.
In January, Boyd was visited at the San Angelo Stadium fieldhouse by Texas Tech offensive line coach Clay McGuire. He was also invited to Tech’s spring practice recently, though he hasn’t received an offer from the Red Raiders yet.
Boyd also attended TCU’s spring practice, and he has had invites from Rutgers, Jackson State and Texas State.
