ARLINGTON, TX — Three Concho Valley athletes have been selected to play in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 1A-4A All-Star Game this summer.
Only 24 high school juniors in the state were given the honor.
The Blue team will be represented by Wall’s Kenzzie Covert, Sterling City’s Christina Geary and Mason’s Flora Appleton.
Covert helped Wall win its third state title in program history. She averaged 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals per game as the team’s spark plug off the bench.
Appleton helped Mason reach its first-ever state final. She averaged 13.2 points. 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
Geary helped Sterling City to a 24-10 record and a playoff win. She averaged 18 points, 13 rebounds and 2.5 blocks to earn Defensive MVP honors in her district.
Other players on the Blue all-star team include Coahoma’s Addison Schmidt, Goldthwaite’s Rylee Greenway, Cisco’s Jayla Pittman, New Home’s Kirbi Johnson, Brownwood’s Nylah Hall, Fredericksburg’s Brylee Frantzen and Madalyn Kovar, Gordon’s Faith Garrett and Newcastle’s Camren Mallory.
Players for the Red team include Martin’s Mill’s Kara Nixon and McKenna Wise, Panhandle’s Riley Segura, Dalhart’s Joie Read, Winnsboro’s Hadlee Brown, Brock’s Savannah Hatcher and Jacee Riddle, Glen Rose’s Addison Treppa, La Grange’s Campbell Cooper, Lubbock-Cooper’s Reagan Wrenn, Bellevue’s Brylie Hagar and Nazareth’s Kambri Cleavinger.
The game will be played at 7 p.m. July 13 at Arlington High School.
