No. 24 Angelo State Returns Home to Put Undefeated Record to the Test

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Undefeated Angelo State will look to extend the best start in program history this weekend as the Rambelles host Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State at the ASU Tennis Complex.

The Rambelles (17-0) will face Western New Mexico at 10 a.m. Friday before hosting Sul Ross State at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Head coach Jason Potthoff, in his fourth season, has guided Angelo State to its first-ever 17-0 start.

Angelo State is ranked No. 24 nationally and features two players in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. Vasilissa Kupriianova is ranked No. 25, while Margaux Rene is No. 27.

The doubles pairing of Rene and Benedetta Raggiotti is ranked No. 17 nationally.

Sasa Felixova leads the team with a 15-1 record in singles play, while Kupriianova remains undefeated at 7-0. As a team, the Rambelles are 83-16 in singles matches and 33-16 in doubles.

Raggiotti and Rene lead the team in doubles victories with an 11-4 record.

Angelo State has collected multiple Lone Star Conference weekly honors this season, including singles awards for Rene, Kupriianova and Raggiotti, along with doubles honors for Rene and Raggiotti and the duo of Kupriianova and Danaiya Amangazhiyeva.

Scouting Report: Western New Mexico

Western New Mexico enters with a 4-9 record and is coming off a 7-0 loss to UT Tyler. Angelo State leads the all-time series 7-0, including a 7-0 win in the most recent meeting.

Scouting Report: Sul Ross State

Sul Ross State is 0-8 on the season and also fell 7-0 to UT Tyler in its last match. The Rambelles won the only previous meeting between the programs, 6-0 in 2025.

Angelo State will look to continue its dominant start as it approaches the final stretch of the regular season.
