Angelo State Track Teams Sweep David Noble Relays

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University track and field teams swept the 54th annual David Noble Relays as they tallied 19 provisional-qualifying marks for the national meet over the weekend at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.

The Rambelles collected 213.5 team points, easily outdistancing UT Tyler by 101 points, while the Rams finished with 232.5 team points to top Texas A&M-Kingsville by 129 points.

Marie Schuler set a meet record in the hammer throw with a mark of 60.96 meters (200 feet). The mark, an improvement on her previously set provisional mark, shatters Sara Ramos' previous meet record mark of 58.49 meters (191-11) set in 2021.

Esma Pajt finished second in the event and improved on her qualifying mark with a throw of 54.63 meters (179-2).

Ekaterina Fedetova won the javelin with a hurl of 42.49 meters (139-5). Her best throw of the day was a provisional mark, but not an improvement on her season best.

Former Wall standout Kamryn Williams, fresh off her win in the shot put Friday, finished second in the discus with a qualifying mark of 46 meters (150-11).

Dayvon Williams took top honors in the high jump, matching his already-set provisional mark of 2.05 meters (6-8.75).

Kaylee Price tallied a pair of provisionals in the 100-meter hurdles and the 400 hurdles, doing so with times of 14.11 and 1:01.48, respectively, as she finished second overall in each event. Her 100 hurdle time is a season best, while her 400 hurdle time is only a tenth off her season best.

Shackelia Green and Lainey Jernigan joined their teammate Price with provisional marks in the 400 hurdles. Green took top honors in the event with a time of 1:00.78, while Jernigan clocked 1:01.30 to finish third.

Keagan Galmor ran a season-best 55.13 in the 400 meters as she notched a qualifying time.

The Rams' 4x100 relay team of Bautista DiamanteTaylor BriggsFrancis Patanpatan and William Opare won the event with a time of 39.88 seconds, a provisional mark in the event.

The Rams swept the top four places in the 400 meters, with all four Rams – Opare, Rami BaltiJahleel Armstrong and Francis Patanpatan – tallying provisional marks. Opare's 45.98 in the prelims was the best mark of the day, while Balti, Armstrong and Patanpatan's best times came in the finals.

Briggs also took home first place in the 400 hurdles with a qualifying time of 53.04.

Briggs was also a part of the 4x400 relay team with Karl PatanpatanFrancis Patanpatan and Balti that ran a time of 3:08.69, the final provisional for the weekend and the fastest time for ASU in the event this season.

Other highlights from the weekend included Chasity Benson and Caden Glenn claiming wins in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

In the triple jump, Thombias Moy finished second in the men's competition, while Kyla Lumpkins and Helene Wiethoff were third and fourth on the women's side.

Kylie Frush finished seventh in the heptathlon with 5,012 points to pace the Rambelles. 

Travis Matthews, the lone Ram in the decathlon, finished ninth overall with 5,976 points.

Vanam Sharma won the men’s shot put with a throw of 16.74 meters (54-11).

The Rambelles and Rams will compete at the Texas Relays next week in Austin.
