Three Wall Athletes Sign to Play at Next Level

WALL, TX — Three student-athletes from Wall put pen to paper Tuesday to decide where they will continue their careers in college.

Koen Braden signed with Hardin-Simmons University, Bryson McFarden signed with Angelo State, and Jaycee White signed to run track for Dallas Baptist University.

Braden played defensive tackle on the state-champion Wall Hawks' defense this season, which finished 16-0. One of the anchors on the defensive line, Braden finished his senior campaign with 71 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 12 quarterback hurries. He was also named Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year in the district.

He now takes his talents to Abilene to play football for Hardin-Simmons, which competes at the NCAA Division III level.

Jaycee White - Track and Field

White continues to excel in the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles this season. She already broke the Wall school record and set the meet record for the 100 hurdles at the San Angelo Relays earlier this month.

She is projected as one of the top hurdlers in 3A headed toward the postseason, and no one should be surprised when she challenges for a state title in May.

She signed her papers to move to the metroplex to run for Dallas Baptist, which competes in NCAA Division II and is a rival of Angelo State in the Lone Star Conference.

Bryson McFarden - Track and Field Decathlon

McFarden excels in several events in track and field this season, including the high jump, triple jump, and all three relays. Last week at ASU's Spring Break Relays, he won gold medals in both jumping events, along with the 4x200 relay and 4x400 relay.

He made the decision to sign with ASU to compete in the 10-event decathlon, using his many talents to take on one of the hardest competitions in sports.
