SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University’s Mariachi Los Pastores will present its annual spring concert on Tuesday, April 28, at 7 p.m. in the Elta Joyce Murphey Auditorium inside the Mayer Administration Building.
The concert, titled “La Época de Oro,” is free and open to the public and will feature collaborations with Lake View High School’s Mariachi Los Caciques, Mariachi Alma Mexicana of San Angelo and special guest Rudy Ramos.
The full Mariachi Los Pastores ensemble will perform selections including “Gema,” “Allá en el Rancho Grande,” “Cien Años” and “La Malagueña.” The group’s performance ensemble will also present pieces such as “Cerca del Mar,” “Paloma Negra” and “Amorcito Corazón.”
Featured student performers include Jessie Martinez, Refugio Martinez, Jordan Cardwell-Roach, Anali Rivera and Analeah Zamarron, among others.
Students from Lake View High School participating with Mariachi Los Caciques include Bella Cordova, Mahkayla Gaspar, Alissa Chapoy, Abel Mota and Micael Lozano.
Members of Mariachi Alma Mexicana joining the performance include Peggy Garcia, Isai Garcia, Ezra Ramirez, Carolina Ramirez, Jeremy Jacques, Rosendo Ramos, Tony Hernandez, Becky Torrez and Francisco Villalobos.
Mariachi Los Pastores is directed by Rosendo Ramos, a member of the ASU music faculty who also serves as mariachi director at Lake View High School and performs with Mariachi Alma Mexicana.
