SAN ANGELO, TX — O.C. Fisher Reservoir outside San Angelo was stocked with largemouth bass hatchlings Wednesday, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
The lake at San Angelo State Park continues to be revived after dropping to as low as 0.8% percent in 2024, leaving it with less than 1,000 acre-feet of water.
One acre-foot of water is equivalent to 326,000 gallons.
Before Wednesday night’s rain, the lake was at 14% capacity with 16,400 acre-feet of water.
TPWD’s efforts to restock the lake in the last 18 months have included 2,500 channel catfish, 21,000 bluegill fish, 58,000 largemouth bass fingerlings and more than 300 white crappie before Wednesday’s stocking.
TPWD has previously reported encouraging results from fishing surveys, and the department hoped legal-sized fish would be present at some point this spring.
