SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man was arrested for crashing a vehicle and injuring his friend.
Kayzeion Green, 23, was arrested by the San Angelo Police Department for unauthorized use of a vehicle and accident involving injury on April 4, 2026.
According to court documents, San Angelo police officers responded to the 2500 block of Lakeside Avenue for a major motor vehicle crash on Jan. 13, 2026. When officers arrived, they observed a subject lying on the ground and bleeding from his face. This individual was Green’s friend, identified as JA.
Witnesses say that the operator of the vehicle drove away from the scene.
Officers noticed a trail of fluid from the crash scene. The officers followed this and discovered the vehicle, a 2024 Toyota Corolla, a few blocks away in the 2200 block of Wilson Street, which is the street Green lives on.
On Jan. 14, 2026, officers spoke with the owner of the Toyota who explained that her father had just bought her the vehicle a few months ago while she attended Angelo State University. The vehicle’s owner then explained that she is in a dating relationship with Green.
According to her, Green did not have permission to use the vehicle. On the night of the crash, Green asked her if she would take him to the convenience store. She told him no and went to bed shortly afterwards. When she woke up, her key fob was not in her purse but instead across the room on the floor.
JA was transported to the hospital, and the vehicle’s owner was asleep, so police determined Green was the only other person to have access to the keys and vehicle.
The investigator spoke with Green, who confirmed that the vehicle’s owner was asleep.
On scene, the investigator spoke with a witness to the crash, and they said they saw JA get out of the front passenger side of the vehicle after the crash. The witness could tell JA was significantly hurt as he walked into the yard and collapsed. The driver reversed the vehicle and got back on the road.
Once on the road, the driver stopped and exited the vehicle, and his description matched that of Green. When Green saw the witness, he got back into the vehicle and drove off. The witness walked over to JA on the ground and noticed he was bleeding from his face.
JA told the witness and other first responders that his friend, “KZ,” was driving, and it was believed that “KZ” was referring to Green.
At the conclusion of the investigation, it was believed that Green was driving the vehicle that was involved in a crash that injured the passenger. Green did not render aid to JA, ignoring his duty to help. JA was taken to Shannon Medical Center, and the investigator reviewed his medical records, and learned that he sustained several abrasions to his face in the crash.
Green was arrested on April 4, 2026, and booked into the Tom Green County Jail. He was released on April 5, 2026, on $25,000 bond.
