Unidentified Driver Killed in Fiery Crash on I-20 in Callahan County

 

CALLAHAN COUNTY, TX — An unidentified driver was killed early Monday when the vehicle left Interstate 20, went off a bridge and struck a concrete embankment before catching fire, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported. 

The crash occurred about 3:25 a.m. on westbound Interstate 20 at County Road 425, according to a preliminary DPS report. The vehicle drove off the roadway into the center median, left the bridge spanning CR 425, hit the embankment and burned. The driver died at the scene. 

No other vehicles were involved and no one was injured. The vehicle was destroyed in the fire, and the driver’s identity was not immediately released because the body was burned, the report stated. 

Weather conditions were clear, the roads were dry and the posted speed limit was 75 mph.
